By now, all of you have taken notice of the state of the city, unless you're much less observant than I've given you credit for. And if that's the case, you probably won't notice this either, and there's nothing I can do about it.

For those of you who have noticed, listen and take this to heart: I know most, if not all of you don't trust me. I haven't made any effort to be trustworthy. But this is the truth.

You have to get out of here. Not out of the city, but out of this world, through one of those tears. This world is falling apart, and if you don't want to be stuck here when it collapses, find somewhere else to go. You know how it goes--you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.

It's been lovely, sort of.

Lord Elrond has followed his Lady home, and since Lord Erestor's house is also empty that leaves the Elfhouse by the station without carers. However I feel that the tradition of the Homely House should be preserved, so although I will not be living there, I will endeavour to keep it open and free to all who need a place to rest.

(The night is lit by moonlight and fireflies. Sansa is sitting beneath a tree with a harp resting in her lap. She plucks a series of notes before settling on a melody. The sweet sound of a young Fire Lizard yawning and chirping sleepily can be heard and a little brown head will lift near her side.)

You need rest. (She pauses the song for long enough to kiss the top of the baby's head. A second Fire Lizard flies to join them, lighting on the young woman's shoulder.) Did you catch any fireflies, Eowyn?

(It must be your imagination that said second Fire Lizard shakes her head, right?)

[The video begins with a shot of a hammer that will be familiar to anyone who knows anything about Norse legend. Once wielded by Thor and later by Loki, its power was passed to Jane Foster when both deities left the city. Yet now, for some reason, it rests in the middle of the kitchen table in Spiral, beside it a stack of notes in Jane's handwriting.

Diarmuid watches the hammer warily, and who can blame him since the last time he was this close to the hammer, it nearly took his head off as it made its way back to Jane.

Jane. Had his call to her not gone unanswered, Diarmuid would think it was some kind of joke. Since it had, though, he knows full well what it means. Jane has left the city and the hammer, for some reason, has brought itself here to be...what? A paper weight? It's not as if Diarmuid will be able to lift it--enhanced strength or not--that isn't how the hammer works.

Still, as if driven by some force he can't see but can clearly feel, Diarmuid reaches out and wraps his hand around the handle. He almost draws back when he feels the electricity and power crackle around it, but realizes quickly it doesn't hurt. It's...actually an odd sort of comforting. With that strange thought in his mind, Diarmuid gives the hammer a test lift.

There is dead silence in the school and across the feed as the hammer rises in his hand as if it weighs no more than a feather. A confused sound slips from Diarmuid's mouth as he shakes his head.]

Jane, I think your hammer has lost its mind.

[The words are soft, almost as if Diarmuid doesn't mean for anyone else to hear. As he sets the hammer back onto the table, he blinks in surprise, realizing that not only has his watch popped open, but is recording. Of course it is.

He runs a hand through his hair as an embarrassed look crosses his face.]

Is anyone as confused as I am? I'm pretty sure an Ancient Irish Hero isn't qualified to wield Thor's Hammer.

[Not to mention a man who is only a copy of said Ancient Irish Hero. Diarmuid doesn't say this aloud, though. Instead, he gives everyone puzzled look and a wave over the watch as he ends the feed.]

Here's an interesting thing.

[This still isn't the radio, which Cecil appears to have finally figured out; he's magnanimously chosen not to refer to everyone on the watches as listeners this time. He's still speaking without preamble, though, as if it's an inevitability that everyone will stop what they're doing and listen to him.]

The word dæmon--the word for those things we all had for a while--sounds a lot like the word demon. I was informed, very snottily, by Yiskah that the two words aren't spelled the same, and while I'm loath to trust an owl in matters of spelling she seemed very sure of herself. But either way: they sound very alike.

The interesting thing is, demons don't exist. They're not real. No more than angels are, and that's none real. On the realness scale of one to ten, they're a zero. The obvious conclusion is that the dæmons never existed either. It isn't appropriate for this city to foist imaginary things on its populace, by the way. And of course it isn't right to talk about things that don't exist, either, but I'm willing to take that risk.

Also, I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I got a watermelon from the store? Because watermelon is wonderful when it's hot out, which it is, very, at the moment? But when I ate it, it just tasted like a potato. So whoever's genetically modifying watermelons, please stop that. It wasn't at all refreshing.

I would swear it looks identical to my former daemon, Axios. And there are more here at the train station as well.

[He swings the video again to take in the line of wood carvings sitting on the railing. There's pretty much one of every single daemon that was ever seen or mentioned on the network.]

((Zarek has carved one for each of the residents to claim if they wish. There's no indication that it was him, however.))

Good Afternoon everyone. My name is Belldandy for those I haven't met before. I've only been in this city for about two months now, but I would like to start doing my part to aide this community in anyway I can.

[She offered the device a warm smile]

After speaking with a few of you, I thought perhaps it might be beneficial to institute a system in which we can check up on one another during strange events. That way no one, whether they have contacts here from their own worlds or not will be left out. If you need help the rest of the members in the chain can provide that assistance.

The only problem I'm having with it is how to best implement it. For one, I don't know how many people would be interested in this offer. For another, I'm concerned that if too many of us end up affected at one time the system will fall apart. I would greatly appreciate any input you all can give me on this, and whether or not you'd sign up for it if it was made available. Thank you for your time and consideration.

do any of you have pets at home? like, not here. where you were before you came here. but also here too i guess! i don't know. this past week just had me thinking about how much i missed my dog. oh, i'll start! i have a dog, who is very big and who i love very much. my boyfriend has a cat, but i'm allergic, so he keeps it at his office (also because it is floating in a fixed position in the bathroom there) and his name is khoshekh

[The husky tosses her head and paces, eyeing the park grounds for any unfortunate small animals.] I prefer much colder climates than this, as you should know. So do you, even if you keep denying it.

[He gives her an irked look.] Erien, I will take you to the lake again, if you want- or to the forest, or anywhere. Later. Just- find another subject for now, if you don't mind?

I didn't mean the Hel- [The dog, Erien, lets out a low whine.] You can't let that ruin the thought of cold weather. I know you don't want to talk about it now, but you should sometime.

What's to say? It's over, and we survived and I could have had it much worse.

[There's a dissatisfied note to the dog's voice, but she nods and wanders over to place her head on Findekano's lap.] Well, if you won't talk to me... play the song about the sun's rising?

I thought you didn't like that one. [But he smiles down at her and scratches behind her ears, then begins to play.]

Hygiene doesn't matter to her! Have you seen her roll in the mud?

Indeed. (This time, the young woman sighs and comes to a pause by a forest river.) You said you wanted to drink fresh water and fish, did you not?

(The fox darts forward eagerly, lapping up the clear water with her tongue.)

This is good! Does she like fish? I could bring her back one!

(Sansa laughs softly at the bright, eager face and strokes over the fox's big ears.)

I think she would like that.

[Jane’s voice raises and the video swerves over to the right to show her arguing with a large barn owl perched on one of the chairs of the kitchen table. If a bird could outwardly display emotions like a human, it would. As it cannot, it is puffing its feathers and clicking its beak instead.]

You’re the one who seems to know everything about me, insists that we have been together all of our lives, and are a talking owl?

[The owl let out an annoyed hiss and flapped its wings.]

Well! Who is to say that I am not lying? Perhaps some time streams have gotten mixed up for one reason or another? Or are you going to deny the multiverse theory?

[Jane just groaned and sunk into another chair, muttering:]

Oh god, that makes sense.

And it is entirely plausible, don’t forget.

[Jane groans again.]

Hi everyone! I think most of us know by now that it's not a good idea to be far away from our- um, animals. Does anyone have a better idea for me and Nemo than a fishbowl? She's pretty cramped.

[If he could hug a fish, he would be right now. Instead, Naegi just holds her up a little higher to make his point more clear, and smooshes his cheek against the bowl. Nemo does the same.]

Also, I was thinking of taking her for a walk to the lake, so that she could swim around properly for a bit! Would anyone like to come along? It'd be a long trip, and I'm going to leave pretty early in the morning... but we could take a break halfway.

[Afonso doesn't even have a chance to properly greet the network. One second he's opening his mouth with a falcon perched on his shoulder, the next he's letting out a startled noise, stumbling back as his Great Dane Rocky all but leaps into frame. The watch goes clattering to the ground, skidding along the floor to get a nice sideways shot of Afonso trying desperately to keep his balance while Rocky plants his front paws on his shoulders barking at the falcon who has taken flight to perch on one of the parallel bars in Spiral. A few seconds later and Afonso promptly loses his balance, toppling over.

There's just a moment of silence and then the unmistakable sound of the bird laughing while Rocky whines, half lying on top of Afonso's chest.

He lays there for a moment before eventually managing to prop himself up on his elbow, glancing around before spotting his watch looking at it with utter exasperation.]

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to deal with a jealous dog and a daemon?

[The falcon flutters landing right in front of the watch and seemingly unbothered by Rocky barking again. Afonso's quick to grab him by the collar.]

Fátima! Could you please just stay up there for, I don't know, five minutes or something while I calm Rocky down!

[The video opens as an otter blinks at the watch. It's an adult, and aside from looking a little bored, seems totally chilled out and relaxed. It clears its throat as a deep voice comes across the speaker.] "Hello! My human is currently busy reading about otters and can't be bothered to provide a poor creature like myself some tea. Not that she can brew tea as well as she thinks, mind you! She often lets it steep far too long, but she does try so I can't really fault--"

[The watch swings as Alice takes it.] "That's enough of that, thank you! If you want tea that badly, I'll go make some right now."

[The otter blinks up at her and then nods, his eyes widening happily.] "Yes! And some snacks--" [But he seems to catch himself and straightens up with a huff.] "I-- I mean. Not that I'm looking forward to it. But if you insisist, then please."

[Alice sighs.] "You remind me a little of Wonderland, actually. But come on. I'll get the tea going."

[She clicks the watch shut, ending the feed.]

[Yuuta had been kind of quiet and depressed since Amelia had gone back home. He ran errands and helped with the greenhouse, but he obviously lost a spark in his eyes. Though there were times they argued or didn’t get along or where Yuuta had to put his foot down … she was his little sister. He didn’t like many aspects of her world or the situation she was in. He worried immensely—at least here she did not doubt that she was loved.

He still had her dolls and craft supplies. Should she ever return, she would find her room exactly the same, though cleaned up and a little more organized.

Sighing, he did not question it when a Siamese cat suddenly came up the apartment balcony and rubbed against his legs. After a few moments, he picked it up and held it in his arms.]

I suppose with all of the other posts about animals suddenly craving human attention, this is another event?

[The cat purred for a few more moments.]

Not … exactly.

[The sudden end of the feed is due to Yuuta crying out in surprise, dropping the cat, the cat managing to land on its feet, the watch getting knocked off, and falling to the ground with a clatter.]

So, this sort of goes without saying: the city's done something strange again. What with the little animals calling themselves daemons that are following around members of my household and all. I felt like it was a pretty safe assumption to make that it's happened to everyone.

It's a confusing time for everyone, I suppose. Sofia's a little upset with me (??) and won't come out of my pocket. I think I've asked her a few too many questions and now she's annoyed. I'll try bribing her later. Can daemons eat? Do they even get hungry? I suppose I'll find out later.

Because I never learn and I presume most of you won't sulk and hide in someone else's pocket, I have some more questions to pester people with:

1. What species is your daemon?
2. What is your daemon's name?
3. What gender is your daemon?
4. How well does your daemon seem to know you?
5. How far away can the two of you be apart?

You can answer as many or as few as you like.
